A dozen musicians playing acoustic music from around the world.
The Red Herrings were formed in November 1987 when we thought a samba
was a snare and a tambourine. At our first gig we played all 3 pieces from our
repertoire !
Over a 150 gigs later we had rather more pieces to play.
Originally a busking band, the music we played appealed to all those
who enjoyed live music with global influences. Our sets included something for everyone -
a unique mix of percussion and brass, sambas, ska and folk.
Over the years we played in pubs & clubs, at festivals &
galas, on parades & processions.
The Red Herrings in
Amsterdam 1998.
The Red Herrings at Cafe Kino,
Bradford 1998.
All those people who played in the Herrings at some point
over the past 13 years: (if you played with the herrings and you are not on the list,
please let us know!) (sorry, can't remember all those surnames)
